Jiro: Rainie is my kind of girl!

Taiwanese pop artiste Rainie Yang claimed to be a homely girl just like her character in TV romance comedy “ToGetHer (Superstar Express)”.

When in town to promote the drama last Friday, Yang said her role as Chen Momo in the drama offered her the least lines among all others she has acted in.

“Chen Momo is very quiet; the most difficult part about this character is that she uses her eyes to express her emotions. On the other hand, I am a very outgoing and frank person, so it was hard to get into the role initially,” Yang said.

Jiro Wang and George Hu, male leads of the drama serial, also claimed to be homely boys, but spendthrift ones.

“I like to cosplay. I am the kind who loves manga and animations and will collect figurines and role play a various comic and animation characters,” Wang said.

Hu said, “I like to stay home and play electronic and computer games, watch TV and collect comics and the play cards. Actually I still spend a lot staying at home.”

Wang also expressed love for Yang during the interview, crushing rumors of their incompatibility.

“I think Rainie is very different from her onscreen persona. She is rather quiet and that is very attractive. (So Rainie is your kind of girl?) Of course!”

Starting Feb 21, Channel U will simulcast ToGetHer (Superstar Express) with Taiwan every Saturday at 9.30pm.

CTV & GTV’s [ToGetHer] was meant to air its second episode on the 22nd but on youtube under the title of [ToGetHer ep.2], the “complete pirated version” was released even earlier on the 20th, completely unbelievable! GTV Deputy General Manage Lai CongBi said, “In conjunction with cast members going to promote the drama in Singapore, the DVD of episodes 1 and 2 were released in Singapore at the same time [as the promotion]. Originally we thought that Singapore would abide by the law; we didn’t think that it would be leaked. In the future, we won’t risk it again.”

According to reports, GTV was worried that episode 2 would be leaked online and that this would affect ratings so they immediately sent people to investigate. Reporters went on webpage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjDmvcFrUNI)and discovered the important scenes of episode 2, including the scene where Jiro Wang (Da Dong) who acts as a superstar with declining popularity, is forced by a female director to take off his clothes during a fake audition. He doesn’t take them off but instead, gets drunk and walks in the rain after suffering this blow. He is so drunk that he hugs Rainie Yang and they sleep together. These scenes were all released online.

It has been reported that CTV had originally considered cutting this scene but online there were thousands of reviews. Netizens even became very engaged in the drama, responding, “Is the entertainment industry so cruel?” “That is too messed up, but I guess it’s true” and other such messages.
